At The Barrel, our mission is clear: to provide a clean, inviting, and enjoyable atmosphere that will enhance customers’ experience. Our goal is to continue with tradition and to provide the local community with a welcoming gathering space.
Since 1850 and for more than 165 years of continuous service, The Barrel has provided local South Shore residents and travelers with daily necessities, fresh foods, beverages, treats, and a warm welcoming atmosphere.
In 2016 the Barrel was under new ownership who kept the character and charm of the local country market and added a full deli and catering service as well as an upscale selection of specialty foods, wines, craft beer, and ice creams.
When you visit, try an original sandwich such as the “Skipper”, the “Route 228”, or “Queen Anne’s Corner.” On warm summer days, enjoy locally sourced cold brew coffee, a refreshing Italian Ice, or a soft-serve ice cream. The Barrel is home of the “Coldest Beer in Town” and a diverse selection of quality wines.
