At The Barrel, our mission is clear: to provide a clean, inviting, and enjoyable atmosphere that will enhance customers’ experience. Our goal is to continue with tradition and to provide the local community with a welcoming gathering space.
Since 1850 and for more than 165 years of continuous service, The Barrel has provided local South Shore residents and travelers with daily necessities, fresh foods, beverages, treats, and a warm welcoming atmosphere.
In 2016 the Barrel was under new ownership who kept the character and charm of the local country market and added a full deli and catering service as well as an upscale selection of specialty foods, wines, craft beer, and ice creams.
A second location in Cohasset Center is set to open soon, offering a contemporary twist on the Country Market. The newest Barrel will have all the things that made the original so unique: daily necessities, a great selection of specialty foods and beverages, vintage candies, treats, and ice cream to make kids of every age smile, and a welcoming gathering place for the local community.
When you visit, try an original sandwich such as the “Skipper”, the “Route 228”, or “Queen Anne’s Corner.” On warm summer days, enjoy locally sourced cold brew coffee, a refreshing Italian Ice, or a soft-serve ice cream. The Barrel is home of the “Coldest Beer in Town” and a diverse selection of quality wines.
